Why get ASA Certified?

​ ASA Certification gives you the knowledge and experience to be confident and safe on all your sailing adventures – whether you charter a boat from a local harbor, go on an exotic sailing vacation, or even buy your own boat.

  • ASA has been helping people realize their sailing dreams with their internationally recognized, and proven sailing courses since 1983.

  • ASA standards are used by more than 400 participating schools in the U.S. and the world. With more schools and graduates than any other sailing organization, ASA certifications are the standard in sailing education.

  • ASA has certified more than 4,000 professional sailing instructors and over 200,000 students from around the world.

  • ASA courses are approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.

  • ​Completion of ASA 101, 103, and 104 qualifies you to receive an ASA IPC (International Proficiency Certificate) necessary for most charter companies and marinas in the Mediterranean.

ASA 101

Basic Keelboat Sailing 

ASA 101 is where your sailing dreams start! No experience is necessary, and this course is designed to give you the knowledge and hands on training needed to sail a small to medium sized keelboat with confidence.

ASA 103

Coastal Cruising

ASA 103 is an intermediate course that builds upon the sailing skills learned in ASA 101. This course is designed to prepare the student to skipper a medium to large sized cruising sailboat confidently in coastal waters, or on island hopping adventures.

Bareboat Cruising

This Bareboat course is for sailors who wish to charter boats for multiple days or weeks anywhere in the world. Learn what it takes to be your own captain and safely cruise with family and friends on amazing exotic sailing vacations.

Cruising Catamaran

Take your bareboat captain skills to next level by learning to skipper a cruising catamaran during a multi-day liveaboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.
